As we make a start on 2019, we look back and see that 2018 was indeed a record year for Derbyshire Blood Bikes.
In total we made 1411 journeys for our local NHS. The number of unscheduled, often urgent, calls increased by 86.5% from 2017, and continues our incredible growth over 6 years.
We anticipated increases after we began the pharmacy delivery service from the Royal Derby Hospital in February, but calls from across the NHS have pushed us to new limits. In response to demand, we provided an extra volunteer each weekday and our team have performed amazingly.
This would not be possible without the funds provided from many generous sources, enabling us to meet our annual running costs of around £20,000.
